Welcome to wxrks. This article is your map for the first hour on the platform: what's already done for you, what to do first, and where to go when you want to go deeper on any one thing.

Nothing to configure before you start
Creating your account already created everything a first project needs:
An Organization — see All about Organizations
An Organizational Unit inside it — see All about Organizational Units
A Translation Memory, linked and ready — see All about Translation Memories
A Glossary, linked and set as default — see All about Glossaries
A standard price list, so every project can be quoted right away — see How to create a Price List if you want your own instead
None of this needs your attention unless you want to change it. If your use case is simple, you can go create a project right now.
Create your first project
Start from Start a new Project on your Home page, or from the Projects menu → New Project.
You'll pick between a Direct Project (one Organizational Unit) or Project Routing (splits language pairs across several Organizational Units automatically) — most accounts want Direct Project.

Three account-wide defaults worth knowing about
These live under Settings → System Settings → Accounts → your account, on the Account Settings tab. You don't need to touch any of them to start working — they're worth knowing about because they affect every project on the account.
Quote Automation every new project gets costed automatically, using a dummy price list ($USD per word) unless you've set up your own price list.
Augmented Translation Actions (AI) is off by default and entirely optional. There are actually two switches, not one: this account-level toggle, and a matching per-Organizational Unit toggle on that unit's LLM tab — both have to be on before AI features work in a given unit's projects. Turning on only the account-level one is a common trip-up; if the unit-level toggle is off (or the account-level one is), the LLM tab shows a warning and disables its own switch until the account-level one is on first.
A standard Machine Translation engine is already active for every account — nothing to set up, though you can override it per Organizational Unit or project if you want a specific provider.
