The wxrks Editor is where translation and review work actually happens: a segment-by-segment workspace with a top bar for file info and delivery actions, a side menu for comments, suggestions, QA, and reference material, and the segment list itself, where you read the source and write or revise the translation.
This article covers the parts of the Editor that are common to every task — the top bar, the icons that open its side panels, and the anatomy of a segment. 💡 Who is this for? This guide is for anyone who opens a task in the wxrks Editor — Vendors translating or reviewing content, as well as Project Managers and Account Admins checking on a file. A few things described here (like the Feedback button) are permission- and setting-gated, so you may not see every element in every project.
Opening the Editor
From a project's Tasks tab, click a file's name (or choose Open in Editor from the task's ⋮ menu) to open that task in the Editor. It opens in a new browser tab or popup window, so your project view stays open in the background.
Top bar
The top bar carries the file's identity and the actions that move a task forward.
Filename & size — the file's name and size. A long name is truncated; hover it to see the full name and extension.
Workflow step — a small badge showing the current step (Translation, a review step, etc.) alongside the source and target languages. It's often too narrow to show the full step name — hover it for the complete label.
Segments — a dropdown with Select All and, if you have the Confirm all permission, Confirm All for bulk actions across up to 1,000 segments at a time, plus Go to to jump straight to a segment number in a large file.
Translate — available on translation steps; runs pre-translation (Translation Memory, Machine Translation, and/or AI, depending on the project's settings) into empty or selected segments, without waiting for auto-translation at project approval.
Download — downloads the translated file, the modified source file, or the original file.
Deliver Task — delivers the task. wxrks checks for tag mismatches first; if it finds any, it warns you before you can proceed, so you can fix them or deliver anyway.
Feedback button (Reviewer Feedback)
On a review-step task, a Feedback button can appear next to Deliver Task once every task in the delivery is delivered or pending confirmation. It opens a form to rate and comment on the work of the vendor from the previous workflow step, per task or with one score for the whole batch.
This button is controlled by a setting actually called Reviewer Feedback — not "Feedback Button" or "General Feedback," names an earlier version of this article used. It has to be turned on in two places for the button to show up: the Reviewer Feedback toggle at the account level, and the equivalent setting on the Organizational Unit used by the project. If either is off, the button won't appear. It also never appears on a plain Translation-step task, since feedback always flows from a reviewer back to whoever worked the step before them.
Preview, Menu, and Help
Four icons sit in the top-right corner of the Editor, left to right: Preview, Menu, Dark mode, and Help.
Preview shows a live rendering of the file where the type supports it — see wxrks Preview: Supported File Extensions for which mode applies to which file type. Menu opens the side panel covered in full in wxrks Editor Menu for Vendors — comments, suggestions, instructions, QA, TM and glossary search, filters, and more.
Dark mode switches the Editor between a light and a dark theme.

Segments
Below the top bar is the segment list — the file broken into individual translatable units. Click a segment to make it the active one: its translation opens for editing, with a header above it.
Source is the text being translated. Users with the Edit Source Segments permission can correct it directly in the Editor — see How to Edit Source Text in the wxrks Editor. Otherwise, edit the original file and re-upload it.
Translation is where you type or revise the target text. A small label shows where a pre-filled translation came from (Translation Memory, Machine Translation, AI, or a Glossary) and, for a TM match, the match percentage. On the active segment, the label sits in the header above the translation; on the other segments, it sits under the confirm icon. Its colour follows the segment's status: violet for a TM match that isn't confirmed yet, green once a 100% or 101% match (or a segment with no match) is confirmed, amber or red when a lower match is confirmed, and orange when the segment has a warning, such as a tag mismatch or a translation over its character limit.
Lock — locking a segment manually in the Editor also confirms it. In the confidence-score rules (see Auto-Confirming Segments by Confidence Score), Confirm and Lock are independent switches.
Counts — the chip in the header of the active segment shows the source and translation lengths, by default as Chars (for example, Chars 49 / 49). Click it to see the word and character counts for both sides, literal and GMX (the standard wxrks Analytics uses), and to choose which ones the chip shows — see How to see literal and GMX word and character counts for a segment in the Editor.
A few other things you'll notice in the list: a confirm/unconfirm icon whose exact appearance depends on the workflow step (a review step shows a distinct "Reviewed" state — see How to review in wxrks for what's different there), and, on repeated content, a small repetition icon in the corner. Repetitions only copy a translation from the first occurrence downward, never the other way. When Smells (the AI quality check) has run, a shield badge shows the segment's QA Confidence Score.
