When you send a ZIP file with folders to the wxrks Translation Portal, wxrks translates every file inside it and gives the translations back in the same folders. You can select some or all files and download them as a single ZIP.
Before you start
Who can use it: everyone with access to the Portal: Account Admins, Project Managers and Clients open it from Tools > Portal. The steps below are the same for all three roles. See All about wxrks roles.
Limits per request: up to 150 files, counting every file inside your ZIPs. Each file can have up to 512 MB, and a ZIP can expand to up to 5 GB.
1. Send the ZIP file
You can send the ZIP in two ways:
In the chat: drag the ZIP into the message box, or click + and choose it.
From Drive: upload the ZIP to Drive, then add it to the message from there.
Choose the source language and the target languages above the message box, then click Translate.
wxrks opens the ZIP and creates one file for each document inside it. Each file keeps its folder path in its name, for example marketing/brochure.docx. Folders inside the ZIP are not created as folders in Drive.
What wxrks leaves out of the ZIP:
Empty files, and files of a type wxrks can't translate.
A ZIP inside the ZIP. It is not opened.
If the ZIP has more files than the limit allows, wxrks rejects the whole request and saves nothing. Split the ZIP and send it in parts.
2. Download the translated files
When the translations are ready, they are listed in the message's Files table.
Select the files to download. To select every file at once, use the checkbox in the table header: it selects the files that are ready to download.
Click Download (N), where N is the number of selected files.
One file downloads as is.
Two or more files download as a single ZIP named
BWX-<ZIP name>__<date>.zip, for exampleBWX-handbook__2026-10-14.zip. If the selection mixes files from different ZIPs, the name isBWX-portal-files__<date>.zip.
You can download up to 150 files at a time. When a message has more than five files, the table collapses into a summary with a Download all button, which downloads every ready file in the same way.
How the downloaded ZIP is organized
Inside the downloaded ZIP, there is one folder per target language. Files that came from a ZIP sit in a folder named after that ZIP, with their original folders. For example, handbook.zip translated into Portuguese (Brazil) downloads as:
pt_br/handbook.zip/training/manual.txt pt_br/handbook.zip/policies/conduct.txt pt_br/handbook.zip/readme.txt
A file you sent on its own, outside a ZIP, sits directly in the language folder, for example pt_br/standalone.docx. This is the same layout the wxrks TMS uses when it delivers files from a ZIP.
ℹ️ Note: files sent before this change come back without the ZIP folder.
3. Send the files to Human Review (optional)
To have a translator review the files, select them and click Send to Human Review (N). The review is followed in Review Orders. When you download the reviewed files from there, they keep the same folders.
