If your agency uses wxrks to manage your localization, you don't have to email a Project Manager every time you need something translated. wxrks gives you two direct, self-service ways to request a translation yourself, right from the platform — no PM has to create anything on your behalf.
💡 Who is this for? This guide is for Client Requester and Client Admin users who need to request a translation directly through wxrks, without going through a Project Manager.
Choose the right way to request
Both options are reachable from the same two places — your Home screen and the sidebar — shown highlighted below:
Request a full Project — for real deliverables: a defined set of files, target languages, a translation workflow (with review steps if your agency uses them), a due date, and a quote you approve before work starts. Use this for anything that needs to go through your agency's normal quality process.
Get a quick translation via the wxrks Translation Portal — for quick needs: tone testing, a one-off sentence or short document, or anything you don't need a formal project (or a PM) for. Paste text or upload a file and get a translation back in moments, with no quote step.
1. Request a full Project
Click Start a new Project on your Home screen, or Projects > New Project in the sidebar (both shown highlighted above) — either one opens the same project wizard.
From there, you'll choose Direct Project or Project Routing, fill in the Organizational Unit, files, source and target languages, and workflow steps for each file. This wizard is documented in full, field by field, with screenshots of every step, in How to create a translation project in wxrks — that article covers the same wizard your agency's Project Managers use, so it applies to you too.
Once you create the project:
If Quote Automation is turned on for your Organizational Unit, you'll get a price within moments and the project moves straight to Pending.
If it isn't, the project stays in Draft until a Project Manager at your agency prices it manually and moves it to Pending.
Either way, nothing gets translated until you give the go-ahead: click Approve Project on the platform (or simply reply to the quote email) to kick off translation.
Once approved, you can follow the project's progress under the Waiting for approval and In Progress tabs of your Client Portal home — see Client's Portal for a full tour of those tabs and everything else available to you as a client.
2. Get a quick translation via the wxrks Translation Portal
For anything that doesn't need a full project — testing how a phrase reads in another language, translating a short piece of text, or a quick file you need turned around fast — use the wxrks Translation Portal instead. It's a lighter-weight, web-based tool built for exactly this: paste text or upload a file, pick your languages, and get a translation back immediately, without a quote, an approval step, or a Project Manager involved.
Open it from the sidebar under Tools > Portal (highlighted in the screenshot above). Whether you see this option depends on whether your agency's Account Admin has enabled the Portal for your Organizational Unit and included your role among those with access — if you don't see it, ask them to turn it on.
The full walkthrough — translating text vs. files, adjusting tone and formality with Sous Chef, Text-to-Speech, video subtitling, and downloading your results — is covered in wxrks Translation Portal.
