How It Works
The wxrks Translation Portal is a web-based tool that allows users to quickly translate any text and file between different languages. It’s perfect for quick needs, tone testing, and translations outside of the traditional project workflow. All formats accepted by wxrks TMS will also be accepted by the Portal.
Accessing the Portal and Settings
To access the Translation Portal:
In the sidebar menu, click Tools > Portal
Enable the Portal using the “Enable Portal” toggle.
Select the desired Organization Unit from the dropdown.
Select the logo of your portal branding.
Select your portal theme (There are defined color palettes, but you can customize them with a specific RGB).
Select the roles you want to access the direct portal and the roles that should access the TMS flow normally.
Configure your default translation preferences as described in the next section.
Note: From the selected Organizational Unit (step 3), translations involving Translation Memory and Glossary (Term Base) will be pulled from that specific Unit.
Note: It is also possible to configure the platform Entry Point allowing the user to access the Portal or TMS (default) automatically upon login. It is also possible to limit the user access to the TMS ensuring this user can only access the Portal.
Sous Chef Configuration
The Sous Chef allows you to customize how the AI translates your text. The main settings are:
Audience: Define who the translation is for (e.g., medical professionals, children).
Instructions: Any specific guidance, such as “Keep brand names untranslated” or “Use simple vocabulary.”
Formality: Choose between Informal, Neutral, or Formal language.
Tone: Select the overall tone (Artistic, Professional, Technical, etc.).
Creativity Level: Adjust if the translation should be more literal or more creative.
Click Save to apply your default settings.
After saving, your selected preferences will be used by default for future translations. If your needs change, you can always return to this screen and modify your default settings.
Additionally, while using the Portal, you can adjust your Sous Chef settings at any time without leaving the translation workspace. Simply click on the Tools tab next to the text input area to update your translation preferences for that specific translation.
When you adjust the Sous Chef settings using Tools, your changes will apply only to that session. Your default settings remain unchanged.
How to Translate Text
Once your Portal is configured:
Click “Go to Portal.”
1 target language can be selected on each requestPaste your text into the input area.
Choose the source and target languages using the dropdown selectors.
Click “Translate” to instantly receive your result.
Note: If you've configured a specific source language at the Unit level, that particular language will be detected when uploading a file in the same language (detected formats: txt, yml, json, html, docx, odt) or when writing text in that language.
How to Translate Files
Follow the flow below to translate files.
Click in the “+” icon or Drive and add the files.
Up to 5 files can be added at a time, and 10 different target languages can be selectedAfter adding the file, remember that it will translate according to your Org. Unit settings, that is, if you configured your Translation Settings to use MT, it will use MT, if you configured TM, it will use TM and so it goes.
After completing the translation, you can download the translated file.
Upon completion of the file translation, the Confidence Score will be generated. This functionality is nothing more than a proportion generated by the wxrks 's Smells tool that evaluates the quality of the translation.
How the Confidence Score is calculated:
The AI captures a random sample of 50 segments from the work unit.
These segments are analyzed and classified by the AI based on the severity of any issues found.
The issue categories and their respective score weights are mapped as follows:
BLOCKER (0%): Errors that prevent the content from being published or used. This includes severe legal risks, highly offensive language, or broken code/tags that corrupt the file or interface.
CRITICAL (30%): Critical errors that completely change the core meaning of the message, potentially leading to critical misunderstandings, user harm, or significant brand damage.
MAJOR (50%): Major errors that affect readability or tone, such as obvious grammatical mistakes or incorrect terminology, but do not completely alter the central meaning of the text.
MINOR (80%): Small errors that do not hinder comprehension, such as minor typos, slight formatting issues (e.g., double spaces), or punctuation mistakes.
INFO (100%): Stylistic suggestions or informative notes. These are not considered actual errors and do not negatively impact the score.
A single segment can receive multiple classifications. In such cases, the system will always apply the lowest classification (the most severe issue) to that segment. For example, if a segment contains both a MINOR and a CRITICAL issue, its score will be calculated as CRITICAL (30%).
Finally, the overall Confidence Score displayed on the screen is the average of the values from these 50 segments.
Session Tab
In the sessions tab, you can switch between translations performed at different times, so your history is saved temporarily.
Text-to-Speech
The Text-to-Speech (TTS) feature allows you to generate, listen and download an audio file for both source and target texts directly from the wxrks Portal.
To use it:
Open the Portal, add the text to be translated, select the Target language, and click on Translate.
Click on the speaker icon to generate the audio for either the source or target text.
Within the functionality, you can:
Choose between multiple male or female voices.
Adjust the voice speed.
Make adjustments to the text, both source and target, and regenerate the audio.
To download the audio file with the desired voice in .mp3 format, click on Convert file.
Note: The Text-to-Speech feature supports up to 4,096 characters per audio generation. If the text exceeds this limit, the system will not generate the audio.
Video Subtitling
Users can upload videos in the following formats (If you upload a very large video e.g. 150 MB+, you will receive a message that the size exceeds what is supported by the Portal):
mp3, mp4, mpeg, mpga, m4a, wav, and webm
The user can preview the video with translated subtitles and edit the current translations in wxrks Editor*, if necessary.
The next step would be to download either the .srt file or the Video with Subtitles (mp4 format).
When downloading a video with subtitles, make sure to activate the Subtitles in your media player for the subtitles to be displayed.
*If the SRT file is modified at the Editor level when downloaded via the Portal, the file will not be changed. In that case, if necessary, download it via the Editor using the "Translated Files" button.
Drive
The Portal's Drive functionality works like a common Drive device on your machine or on a cloud-hosted machine. In a simple way, this functionality will allow you to create folders, add files, and reuse them for translations later.
Review Orders
The Review Orders functionality works by receiving newly translated content or content saved on Drive to be reviewed by a translator. During the process, you can open the project in wxrks ' TMS and see the settings, as well as choosing the most suitable translator to review the submitted content. In this initial version of Review Orders, the Source/Target languages will be the same as those set during the initial file translation process. For future implementations, it will be possible to manipulate the Review Order's source/target languages.
Free Flow
Free Flow ends up being our new feature that acts as a free segment editor. In this initial version, the text content handled on the Portal can be exported to Free Flow and its formatting can be changed by adding rich text content such as italics, bold, and code-level formatting. In addition, the content that acts in Free Flow after the changes can be exported in PDF format.
Note: In this initial version, access to Free Flow will be via the Portal, so when adding text and translating it, you can choose between opening the source or the target in Free Flow by clicking the "Open in Free Flow" icon.
Overview of the main components of Free Flow in this initial version.
1. Default - Default nomenclature for the initial variant.
2. Add Variant - This field was created to add new variants of the same target.
3. Untitled - The initial document name can be changed as soon as you open Free Flow, which is used to save the document with that name in the Portal's Drive.
4. Zen Mode - A feature where visual functionalities are reduced, leaving the screen more vanilla with only text displayed.
5. Formatting - This field is used to add further text formatting customizations in FreeFlow. The added customizations are retained when downloading the file as a PDF.
6. Export PDF - Button to export as PDF.
Changing the Interface Language
You can now easily change the interface language directly within the Translation Portal to match your preference, replicating the experience you already have in WXRKS.
How to change your language:
Click on your Profile icon located in the top right corner of the Portal.
In the dropdown menu, locate the Language section.
Click on the current language to open the dropdown list of available options (such as English, Español, Português, Français, Deutsch, among others).
Select your preferred language.
What to expect:
Real-Time Updates: As soon as you select a new language, all on-screen texts, buttons, menus, and warnings will update immediately without breaking the layout or logging you out.
Saved Preferences: Your language choice is saved automatically. If you refresh the page or log in again later, the Portal will remember your selection and remain in your preferred language.
