While you type a translation in the wxrks Editor, autocomplete shows the rest of the word or glossary term you are typing in grey, right after the cursor. Press Tab to accept it or Esc to ignore it, so you can type long terms faster and spell them the way your glossary says.
💡 Who is this for? Vendors (linguists) translating or reviewing in the Editor, and Project Managers or Account Admins who edit segments there. All of them see the same suggestions and use the same keys. No permission is needed: autocomplete is a personal setting of each user, and it is on by default, so a Project Manager turning it off doesn't change it for the vendors on the project.
Complete a word with Tab
Open a task in the Editor and click in a segment's target. Autocomplete works the same for every role; only the way in differs:
Vendors: on Home, open My projects, expand the project, click Open task on the file, then Open in editor.
Project Managers and Account Admins: open the project, go to Tasks and click the file name of the task.
Start typing a word. After the third letter, if a suggestion for this segment starts with what you typed, the rest of the word appears in grey after the cursor, followed by a label with its source (for example AI) and a Tab key hint.
Press Tab to insert the rest of the word. The cursor moves to the end of the word and stays in the same segment, so you can keep typing.
To ignore a suggestion, press Esc, or just keep typing: a letter that doesn't match the suggestion hides it, and nothing is inserted.
ℹ️ Note: Accepting a suggestion is its own undo step. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) right after Tab to go back to exactly what you had typed. When no suggestion is shown, Tab works as usual and takes you to the next segment.
Where the suggestions come from
Autocomplete reuses the suggestions the Editor has already loaded for the segment, the same ones you see in the Suggestions panel of the side panel. It doesn't search for anything new. The label after the grey text tells you which source it came from. When several sources could complete the word, wxrks picks the first one in this order:
Label | Source |
Glossary | A target term of the segment's glossaries |
TM | A Translation Memory match; the highest match wins |
AI | The AI translation of the segment |
MT | The machine translation (MT) of the segment |
Previous | An earlier translation of the segment, including its alternative translations |
ℹ️ Note: TM and MT suggestions are loaded with the side panel. With the side panel closed, autocomplete can't offer them.
Glossary rules
Because the glossary comes first, autocomplete helps you use approved terminology:
Glossary spelling wins. A glossary term completes with the spelling stored in the glossary, including terms of several words.
Forbidden terms are never suggested. If the glossary marks a target term as Forbidden, autocomplete won't complete it, whatever the source: a TM match or the AI translation that contains the term can't bring it in either.
Case Sensitive terms need the right case. A term marked Case Sensitive is only suggested when the letters you typed match its case. For example, with "Wxrks Hub" marked Case Sensitive, typing "Wxr" suggests "ks Hub", while typing "wxr" or "WXR" suggests nothing for it, from any source.
Capital letters
If you type the start of the word in capitals, the rest comes in capitals too: "TRI" completes as "TRIMESTRAIS".
If you type only the first letter in capitals, the rest comes in lowercase: "Tri" completes as "Trimestrais".
A Case Sensitive glossary term always keeps its own spelling.
When autocomplete doesn't show
No grey text appears when:
You have typed fewer than three letters of the word.
The cursor is in the middle of a word, or you have text selected.
The segment is read-only.
The AI assistant is working on the segment.
The target language is written without spaces between words: Japanese, Chinese, Korean or Thai.
None of the segment's suggestions starts with what you typed.
Turn autocomplete on or off
Autocomplete is on by default. To turn it off, or back on:
In the Editor's side panel, click the Settings tab (gear icon).
Under Editing, switch Autocomplete while typing off or on.
The choice is saved to your user preferences, so it applies to every task you open in the Editor. Other users keep their own setting.
