Configuring Sous Chef Agents in wxrks

Overview

AI Agents in wxrks act as intelligent assistants that guide the translation process. Because the platform operates on a hierarchical structure, agents can be set globally as a fallback or customized for specific departments or individual projects. Understanding this hierarchy ensures that your translations always align with the intended tone, audience, and instructions.

1. Account Level

The Account-level Agent acts as the Global Fallback. This is the foundation of your system's intelligence and will be utilized whenever an Org Unit or Project does not have a customized agent defined.

How to Access:

  1. In the left sidebar menu, navigate to Settings.

  2. Click on Translation Settings.

  3. Locate the Agents section.

  4. In the right side of the LLM providers, you will find the area labeled Sous Chef Agent (Select a default agent for this scope: ACCOUNT).

Tip for Documentation: When viewing this screen, look for the list of created Agents. The primary agent will be identified by a gray badge labeled Account Default.

2. Organizational Unit Level (Org Unit)

The Org Unit level acts as a template. You can choose to inherit the global Account agent or create a specific one for the needs of a particular unit.

How to Access:

  1. In the left sidebar menu, go to Organizations > Organizational Units.

  2. Select the desired Org Unit (e.g., BWX - Demo).

  3. Navigate through the top tabs and click on Translation Settings.

  4. Look at the right side of the screen for the block titled Sous Chef Agent (Select a default agent for this scope: ORG_UNIT).

Managing Org Unit Agents:

  • Inheriting from Account: If you select an agent belonging to the Account level, it will be "read-only" at this level.

  • Cloning/Copying: To modify a global agent for a specific unit, select the Account agent and click the Copy/Clone icon (located next to the edit/eye icon). This creates an identical version owned by the Org Unit.

  • Setting as Default: After cloning or creating a new agent via the + button, click save. The system will mark this agent with the Org Unit Default badge. Every project created within this Org Unit will now automatically inherit this Agent.

3. Project Level

The Project level is where the hierarchy concludes. This is where the Agent actively functions during Pre-Translation and Context-Sensitive (CS) tasks within the Editor.

How to Access:

  1. In the left sidebar menu, go to Projects > New Project (or select an existing project from the list).

  2. Inside the project settings, navigate to the Translation Settings tab.

  3. Locate the block on the right side: Sous Chef Agent (Select a default agent for this scope: PROJECT).

Note: In this view, you can expand the area to see the five specific parameters inherited by the agent: Audience, Instructions, Formality, Tone, and Creativity Level.

4. Inheritance Rules

Standard Inheritance

By default, when a project is created and linked to an Org Unit, the project dropdown automatically selects the agent tagged as Org Unit Default.

  • If the Org Unit has its own Agent, those specific settings populate the project.

  • If no Org Unit agent is set, the system falls back to the Account level agent.
