Dynamic Preview

Use the editor preview to check how a work unit appears while you translate or review it. The available preview mode depends on the file type.

Audience and Access

This article is for users who can open a work unit in the wxrks Editor. The preview controls are available only when your account has permission to open the preview.

Preview Modes

Mode	Use it for
Media Preview	PSD-based work units and other image-based previews
Web Preview	HTML and web content
Docs Preview	Documents and other supported document formats
Spreadsheet Preview	Spreadsheets and delimited files
Video Preview	Supported video files
Code Preview	Text, code, and structured files
Marketo Preview	Supported Marketo email files

The modes shown in the menu vary according to the work unit file type and configuration.

Open the Preview

Open the work unit in the wxrks Editor.
In the editor header, click the eye icon to Show/Hide preview.
The preview opens in the side panel.

You can adjust the preview panel using the controls at the top of the panel:

Expand increases the panel size.
Reduce decreases the panel size.
Fullscreen hides the other editor panels and expands the preview.
Open in new window opens the preview in a separate browser window.
Hide Preview closes the preview panel.

Change the Preview Mode

Open the preview panel.
Click the Preview Mode menu.
Select the mode that matches the file you want to inspect.

The editor normally selects the most appropriate mode automatically. Use the menu when more than one preview mode is available.

Preview PSD-Based Work Units

PSD-based work units use Media Preview. The preview displays the visual result of the file without requiring you to download it.

Open the work unit preview.
Confirm that Media Preview is selected.
To compare the file with its translated state, click See Translation.
To return to the uploaded source image, click See Original.
After editing translations, click Refresh to render the preview with the latest changes.

The original image is the file as uploaded, without translations. The translated preview is rendered using the current translations available in the work unit.

While a preview is rendering, its controls are temporarily disabled. Keep the preview open until rendering finishes.

Preview Other File Types

Select the mode that matches the content you need to inspect. The preview may load automatically when the work unit opens, or you can select another available mode from Preview Mode.

If a file does not have a compatible preview, the editor displays a preview error. You can still use the work unit's normal file actions when you need to download or handle the file separately.

Troubleshooting

The preview panel is not visible

Click the eye icon in the editor header to Show/Hide preview. If the control is unavailable, your account may not have permission to open the preview.

The preview shows the original instead of the translation

For PSD-based work units, click See Translation. If you recently changed a translation, click Refresh after saving the change.

The preview is still rendering

Wait for the render to finish. Do not repeatedly click the preview controls while a render is in progress.

The preview cannot be loaded

Click Refresh once the preview controls are available. If the error continues, verify that the work unit file is supported and contact your wxrks administrator.
