Time Spent Calculator
wxrks automatically tracks the time you spend working on each segment in the Translation Editor and Review Editor. The time is calculated based on when you focus on a segment and when you leave it, giving you and your team visibility into effort per segment and per work unit.

This feature is available to all users who work in the Translation Editor or Review Editor. Visibility of time spent data depends on your role:

Key Concepts

Segment focus | When you click or navigate into a segment's text area, the system starts tracking time for that segment. |
Segment blur | When you leave a segment (click elsewhere, switch tabs, or move to another segment), the system records the time spent. |
Force blur | An automatic detection mechanism that ensures time is recorded even when you leave a segment without triggering a standard blur event (for example, clicking on a non-text area of the page). |
Time spent badge | A clock icon displayed inside each segment showing the time you spent on it, formatted in minutes and seconds. |
Viewing Time Spent Per Segment
While working in the Translation Editor or Review Editor, each segment shows a clock icon (🕑) in the bottom-left area of the target text box — but only after you have spent measurable time on it.
Hover over the clock icon to see the exact time in MMm:SSs format. If you are a Project Manager or Contact viewing another user's work unit, the tooltip also shows the user's email address.
The time badge appears only when:
The task has been delivered.
You have interacted with the segment (focused and worked on it) prior to delivery.
Viewing Time Spent Per Work Unit
Each work unit header and the editor top bar include an information icon (ℹ️). This icon opens a tooltip with the work unit's progress summary.
The tooltip now includes a Total Time Spent section. If you are the assignee, you see only your own time. Project Managers and Contacts see a breakdown by user email.
The time in the tooltip is displayed in HH:MM:SS format and represents the total accumulated time across all segments in the work unit.
Important Behavior and Edge Cases
Time is calculated only between focus and blur events. If you focus on a segment and never leave it (for example, you close the browser tab), the time since the last focus event is not recorded.
Force blur detects when you leave a segment without a native blur event. For example, clicking on the segment header, the toolbar, or an empty area of the page now properly records time.
Each time you refocus and leave a segment, the time is added to the accumulated total for that segment — it does not reset.
Delivered work units also display time spent data, but new events are not recorded after delivery.
Read-only segments do not display the time badge.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the 🕑 badge on my segments.
The badge appears on the segments only after you deliver the task. Once the task is delivered, the time badges will be displayed for all corresponding segments.
I see my own time but others on my team don't see it.
This is expected. If you are the assigned translator or reviewer, only you see your own time. Only Project Managers and Project Contacts can see all users' time on a work unit.
Time seems incorrect or missing for some segments.
Time is recorded only when focus and blur events fire properly. Rapid switching between segments or browser interruptions may cause some events to be missed. The force blur mechanism in the editor helps reduce this, but it depends on DOM changes being detectable.
