The Organizational Unit template holds the values every new Organizational Unit starts with: appearance, project defaults, translation and Editor settings, automation, notifications and billing. When you save it, you can also push your changes to Organizational Units that already exist, all of them or only the ones you pick, and undo the change if needed.
💡 Who is this for? Account Admins who manage many Organizational Units and want them to start from, or move to, the same settings.
Before you start
Requires Account Admin access.
The template covers the settings shown on its page. Translation rules, languages, workflows, translation memories, MT and prices are not part of it; set those on each Organizational Unit.
Step 1: Edit the template
Go to Settings > Account > Organizational Unit template. The page looks like an Organizational Unit's own page, with the same sections: Overview, Project, Translation & Editor Settings, Automation, Notifications and Billing.
Change the values new Organizational Units should start with. As soon as you change something, a bar with Unsaved changes and Save template appears at the bottom of the page.
💡 Tip: To start from a unit you already like, click Copy from an Organizational Unit… and pick it. The template takes that unit's values; nothing is saved until you save the template.
Step 2: Save and choose where the changes go
Click Save template. The Save the template window lists the settings you changed and asks two questions:
Apply to existing Organizational Units? * None — only new Organizational Units get the new values. * All — every existing Organizational Unit gets them too. The number shows how many units that is. * Selected — pick the units yourself. Filter the list by organization or search by unit or organization name, then check the units, or click Select all … matching.
What to apply (shown when you apply to existing units): * Only the settings you changed — existing units keep everything else as it is. * The whole template — every template setting is copied to the selected units, replacing their current values. Below the options, each setting shows how many units it will change. A summary line repeats how many existing units will be updated.
Click Save and update … Organizational Units. If you chose None, the button is Save template.
⚠️ Warning: Applying to existing units replaces their current values for those settings, including values a unit had set on purpose. Use Only the settings you changed unless you want every selected unit to match the template exactly.
What happens while it applies
The window shows the progress unit by unit. Keep it open: units already saved keep their new value if you close it.
When it finishes, it tells you how many units were updated and how many failed. A unit that failed keeps its previous value; click Retry failed to try those again.
Undo all puts back the value each unit had before, including units that had their own value. It is available right after saving.
Settings that always apply to every unit
Three settings in the template are account settings: Assignment acceptance, Task reminders and Quote automation. When you save the template, wxrks writes their value to every existing Organizational Unit, whatever you chose in Apply to existing Organizational Units?. The save window marks each of them with account setting: applies to every existing Organizational Unit when you save.
