Network
wxrks is mostly text and API traffic, not heavy media, but we recommend a minimum internet connection of 100 Mbps — a typical home broadband/Wi-Fi connection, which is what most users connect from.
Operating system and browser
wxrks is platform-independent — it runs on any modern operating system with a compatible web browser.
Our primary testing and optimization focus is Google Chrome — for the best experience, use its latest version.
Other modern browsers (Firefox, Safari, Edge) are expected to work, but may show minor variations in performance or appearance.
There's no dedicated wxrks mobile app, but the platform is fully responsive on iOS and Android through their respective browsers (Safari, Chrome).
Hardware
wxrks itself is lightweight, but your computer also has to run the operating system, the browser, and whatever else you keep open alongside it. As a practical minimum:
Memory: at least 8 GB of RAM. That covers the OS, a modern browser, and a few basic applications running at the same time — go higher if you regularly work with large files or keep many browser tabs and other programs open.
Processor: any CPU from roughly the last 5–7 years is generally fine — wxrks doesn't do heavy local processing, since translation, TM/glossary matching, and MT all run on the server.
Browser updates: keep it current — this matters for both security and performance.
These are minimum guidelines, not hard limits — exceeding them, especially on RAM, only helps if you tend to work with many tabs or applications open at once.
