wxrks - Marketo Connector

Connect wxrks to Marketo to sync emails and landing pages for translation, then deliver finished content back as new Marketo assets.

The Marketo connector syncs Marketo emails and landing pages into wxrks for translation, then delivers the translated content back to Marketo as new, cloned assets in your target languages.

💡 Who is this for? This guide is for Account Admins who need to connect wxrks to a Marketo account and sync content between the two platforms.

What syncs from Marketo

The connector supports two Marketo asset types: Emails and Landing Pages. Text embedded in a Snippet that an email or landing page references is picked up and translated automatically as part of that email or landing page — Snippets are not a separate asset you sync on their own.

Forms and Fragments are not supported by this connector.

1. Set up a Marketo configuration

In wxrks, go to Integrations → Marketo. This opens the Configurations of Marketo list, where every existing configuration for your account is shown along with the Organizational Unit it's tied to.

Configurations of Marketo list, with the Add Configuration button highlighted

Click Add Configuration to create a new one:

Create new Configuration form for Marketo: Name, Organizational Unit, Workflows, Client ID, Client Secret Key, API URL
  • Name — a reference name for this configuration.

  • Organizational Unit — the wxrks Organizational Unit this configuration (and every project created from it) belongs to.

  • Workflows — the default workflow(s) new projects from this configuration are pre-filled with. You can still change the workflow per project when you create one.

  • Client ID and Client Secret Key — your Marketo API Client ID and Client Secret Key.

  • API URL — the base URL of your Marketo REST API (found in Marketo under Admin → Integration → Web Services).

Note: if you need help locating your Marketo API credentials, check Marketo's own API documentation or ask your Marketo administrator — wxrks only stores and uses these values, it doesn't help you retrieve them from Marketo.

2. Create a project from Marketo content

Back in the Marketo configuration list, click the menu on the configuration you want to sync from and select Create Project (Sync). This opens a form to pull specific Marketo assets into a new wxrks project:

[SCREENSHOT PLACEHOLDER: the "Create Project (Sync)" form reached from a Marketo configuration's ⋮ menu, showing Contact Person, Project Reference, Source/Target Language, Workflows, Type (Email/Landing Page), and Request IDs fields.]

  • Contact Person — must be a Client, Project Manager, or Account Admin associated with the configuration's Organizational Unit.

  • Project Reference — the name for the new wxrks project.

  • Source Language and Target Languages — pre-filled from the Organizational Unit's configured languages; you can adjust the target languages before syncing.

  • Workflows — pre-filled from the configuration's default workflows; also adjustable per project.

  • Type — choose Email or Landing Page. Every ID entered below must be the same asset type; to sync both emails and landing pages, create two separate requests.

  • Request IDs — the Marketo asset IDs to pull in, separated by commas.

Click Sync to submit the request. The page shows a live Requests table below the form, with one row per request ID and a status badge that updates automatically as wxrks pulls the content from Marketo — no need to refresh the page.

Once a request completes, the new project appears in your regular project list like any other wxrks project. For more on working with projects in general, see Project Overview.
