Some organizations are required — by internal policy, a client contract, or a regulator — to keep their data physically stored and processed inside the European Union. wxrks supports this through a dedicated EU-based hosting option: on request, your account's databases, encryption keys, and content can be moved into infrastructure that never leaves Europe.

💡 Who is this for? This guide is for any wxrks customer or prospect evaluating data-residency requirements who needs to determine whether their data can be stored and processed exclusively within the EU.

By default, wxrks runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. Customers who need their data kept in the EU instead can request the EU-based hosting option, which runs on AWS's Europe (Ireland) region rather than the standard US region.

This is an opt-in hosting choice, not something every account has automatically — see "How to request EU-based hosting" below.

When EU-based hosting is enabled for your account, everything that makes up your wxrks data lives exclusively in Europe: your databases, your encryption keys, and all of your project content. None of it is processed or stored on US infrastructure.

The one exception is the wxrks web application itself. The static files that make up the page you load in your browser are served from a global content delivery network for speed and reliability, so they may load from a server outside Europe. No customer data is processed or stored during that page load — the EU-only data path applies once you're authenticated and actually working inside the app, not to the interface files themselves.

EU-based hosting is available on request — contact wxrks Support or your account team to have it set up for your organization. Eligibility can vary by subscription tier, so confirm with them whether it's included on your specific plan rather than assuming.

One important detail before you switch: moving to EU-based hosting creates a new, separate database in Europe — it does not migrate your existing data. If your account already has data stored on wxrks' US infrastructure, that data will not automatically appear in your new European instance. Talk to your account team about timing and migration options before switching if you already have production data you'd need to bring over.
